Newsvine covers over 500 regions around the world, including Antarctica.
There are features of spellchecking, autosave, and inline previewing to the authoring tools while making them easier at the same time also included in Newsvine. All users are diectly accountable for what they submit on Newsvine. People can post their own stories on the site and let others seed the stories. Newsvine gets its live news from the Associated Press.
Every Newsvine member has his or her own column. Any news they write or feed will be on their column. You can also talk to somebody about the same story. Newsvine is run by five people. There is also something called carrot to users. Every contributor gets a share of the ad revenue generated on their pages. The more popular, the more money you're likely to make.
You can also organize published work by tag names. This makes it easier for someone to find whatever they are looking for a lot quicker. Placement of stories is determined by a multitude of factors including freshness, popularity, and reputation.
Some of the users comments were as follows: Harold: Can't wait to have the 'newsvine experience." Sounds like an incredible service. Scott Smith: Looks good! Many people have said that this website is going to change the way we read and look at news.
People are starting to compare Newsvine to Digg. Digg is somewhat similar to Newsvine. It is a technology news website that employs non-hierarchical editorial control. Digg users submit stories for review much similar to Newsvine.
In the long run Newsvine will be a good tool for people to express their opinions on news and to look up news stories efficiently.
